“With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come.”
William Shakespeare, Merchant of Venice
This post is just in acknowledgement of all the people who have made me smile and laugh over the past year – my sisters who never fail to reduce me to acting about 7 years old; my family because, you know, they are funny sometimes (joking, you all make me smile); my friends who make me laugh whether it be through a one liner, something inappropriate or purely through funny conversation and all my housemates, who are named the ‘Blenheim Zoo’ for hilarious reasons that I can’t even begin to explain. It’s the people in your life who give you something worth smiling and laughing about.
“A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you’re fast asleep. In dreams you lose your heartaches, whatever you wish for, you keep…”
A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes, Cinderella
I absolutely love the Disney princess classics; Cinderella has to be one of my all time favourties. I love how the lyrics are so innocent and simple and also quite inspiring. Last night I had one of those dreams that I wanted to carry on for a few more hours and I woke up feeling happy. I can’t quite remember what happened but it was a good ‘un! These song lyrics led to me spending most of my morning reliving my inner child, watching Disney songs on YouTube. Click here for the song…
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
Quite an optimistic statement…
“Good morn or evening friends, here’s your friendly announcer, I have serious news to pass on to everybody. What I’m about to say could be the the world’s disaster, could change your joy and laughter to tears and pain. It’s that love’s in need of love today; don’t delay, send yours in right away. Hate’s going round breaking many hearts, stop it please, before it’s gone too far..”
Stevie Wonder, Love’s in Need of Love Today
It’s mid-May, the sun is shining, birds are singing and I’m revising… However, this lead me to rediscover my Stevie Wonder albums = instant smiles.
Love’s in Need of Love Today is a song which reminds me of many things- playing it in the car while driving around Windsor and singing along to it with some of my R.S class before we took a full school assembly about our fundraising for the local Neonatal ward. Isn’t She Lovely is another favourite of mine, memories of Dad singing it very loudly come back. If it’s Magic has to be one of my all time favourite songs though; it’s just so beautiful. The harp is hypnotic and the lyrics are gorgeous 🙂
“If it’s magic, why can’t it be everlasting? Like the sun that always shines…”
Stevie Wonder, If it’s Magic
“Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.”
Anthony J. D’Angelo
You know you get those people who are always smiling? And I don’t mean in a creepy way. But those people who always look lit up and relaxed and happy – those people are the ones others tend to enjoy being around. To me, they always look so content and seeing these people makes me feel like that too..
“Most smiles are started by another smile”
Frank A Clark, Newspaper Cartoon Columnist
It’s amazing what a smile can do 🙂 🙂
