“Just as time knew to move on since the beginning,
And the seasons know exactly when to change,
Just as kindness knows no shame,
Know through all your joy and pain,
That I’ll be loving you always “

As, Stevie Wonder

Today, I sang this song in the shower 🙂

“I feel I wanna hold you, wanna tell you that you’ll be alright,
Sang this song today, it’s recalling your pictures all in my mind,
I’m helpless, it’s gonna get us before we get this, I wanna kiss you goodbye,
I miss you now.”

I Miss You Now, The Stereophonics

The wonders of Spotify mean that sometimes you discover a really good album and I’ve been listening to The Stereophonics’ “You Gotta Go There to Come Back” a lot recently. I just really like the tone and feeling of the whole album. It’s a great feeling when you discover some new music to enjoy (even if it is pretty old!)

“Qui dove il mare luccica
e tira forte il vento
su una vecchia terrazza davanti al golfo di Sorrento
un uomo abbraccia una ragazza
dopo che aveva pianto
poi si schiarisce la voce e ricomincia il canto:

Te voglio bene assai
ma tanto tanto bene sai
e’ una catena ormai
che scioglie il sangue dint’ e’ vene sai…”

“Here, where the sea shines
and the wind howls,
on the old terrace beside the gulf of Sorrento,
a man embraces a girl
after whom he has been crying,
then he clears his throat and continues the song:

I love you very much,
very, very much, you know;
it is a bond now
that melts the blood inside the veins, you know…”

Dalla, Caruso

This is something my Dad has been playing non stop recently. I’ve heard it before as a beautiful piece of opera and sound but he showed me the lyrics the other day and they are so incredibly descriptive and beautiful. I felt I should share this as firstly, it is stuck in my head, and secondly, because music lovers everywhere should give it a listen.

“Nobody said it was easy, no one ever said it would be this hard, oh, take me back to the start.”

Coldplay, The Scientist

Coldplay basically did a mini concert at the paralympics closing ceremony and I loved it! I found the whole thing weirdly emotional – I don’t know if it was the music or the people or the video clips but it was quite moving. I think that it was a perfect end to the games. This is another of my favourite lines from a song- noone ever really tells you how things will really be.

“Good morn or evening friends, here’s your friendly announcer, I have serious news to pass on to everybody. What I’m about to say could be the the world’s disaster, could change your joy and laughter to tears and pain. It’s that love’s in need of love today; don’t delay, send yours in right away. Hate’s going round breaking many hearts, stop it please, before it’s gone too far..”

Stevie Wonder, Love’s in Need of Love Today

It’s mid-May, the sun is shining, birds are singing and I’m revising… However, this lead me to rediscover my Stevie Wonder albums = instant smiles.

Love’s in Need of Love Today is a song which reminds me of many things- playing it in the car while driving around Windsor and singing along to it with some of my R.S class before we took a full school assembly about our fundraising for the local Neonatal ward. Isn’t She Lovely is another favourite of mine, memories of Dad singing it very loudly come back. If it’s Magic has to be one of my all time favourite songs though; it’s just so beautiful. The harp is hypnotic and the lyrics are gorgeous 🙂

“If it’s magic, why can’t it be everlasting? Like the sun that always shines…”
