“Paradise was always over there, a day’s sail away. But it’s a funny thing, escapism. You can go far and wide and you can keep moving on and on through places and years, but you never escape your own life. I, finally, knew where my life belonged. Home.”
J Maarten Troost, Getting Stoned with Savages
So I’m back from our fabulous holiday; it was the perfect escape from work and stress and real life but that is exactly what everyone returns to eventually: reality. Tobago is truly a little paradise. It is beautiful, the people are great and it generally has a really relaxed atmosphere. Time to get on with reality though – that is where life happens I suppose!
“Home is where you are loved the most and act the worst.”
Marjorie Pay Hinckley
Am back home for a long weekend and off to Yorkshire, read this quote and thought about how true it is!
“If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it to begin with.”
L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Had the most lovely afternoon in the sunshine, back at home for the weekend, having a picnic with my family in Coombe Abbey. Just felt so wonderfully content (probably because I avoided all thoughts of my final exam next week!) The Wizard of Oz is a classic t0o.
Also, it is my three month blogging anniversary and have published 71 posts! Happy days.
“There’s nothing half so pleasant as coming home again.”
Margaret Elizabeth Sangster
Today, I came home for the Easter holidays for a month and it’s true, there is nothing quite like coming back to your home, family and home comforts (and although I have no doubt that I’ll be wanting to go back to uni in a week or two, it is lovely to be back.)
