26th January 2013- 11 months

“She doesn’t understand the concept of Roman numerals. She thought we just fought in world war eleven.”

Joan Rivers

I find this quite amusing as I never really got to grips with roman numerals myself. I can get to 10, but then I am lost! Eleven months into my year of quotes, and I honestly am struggling to understand where the time has gone! Time to make this final month a really good one.

26th November 2012

“Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence  how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.”

C.S Lewis, Mere Christianity

Nine whole months: three quarters of a year, up.

26th October 2012 – 8 Months

“For disappearing acts, it’s hard to beat what happens to the eight hours supposedly left after eight of sleep and eight of work.”

Doug Larson

It’s the blog’s 8 month anniversary, yay! I do often think about how I am not entirely sure where the extra hours of my day go – I think the past 8 months have flown by too.

30th September 2012 – a wedding anniversary

“We’ll be Friends Forever, won’t we, Pooh?’ asked Piglet.

‘Even longer,’ Pooh answered.”

A.A Milne, Winnie the Pooh

I just love the innocence and simplicity of the House at Pooh Corner stories; the words are sweet and easy to understand by everyone. I also quote this as it is my parents’ 23rd anniversary today 🙂

11th September 2012

In Munich, Germany

“Die Erde ist gewaltig schoen, doch sicher ist sie nicht.”

“The earth is wildly beautiful, but not as safe as we suppose.”

Wie Ulfru fischt, Mayrhofer

I saw this sign outside Die Residenz in Munich and thought it was a really nice quote to have up. It’s from a Lied (ballad) by Mayrhofer. I thought it was especially significant today due to it being the anniversary of the 9/11 bombings.
